LAST POST ON THE DANCING READER: See you on the other side?

DON'T FREAK OUT.

So, I know, way back in February, I made a similar post, talking about leaving this blog. That was because I was too busy and couldn't find the time to blog anymore.

That was a lie. Because clearly, I just had a stressful month and I could have just taken a hiatus.

But this time, I'm actually leaving this blog. WHY YOU ASK, it's still summer (at least for me)!

Well, I'm leaving this blog because of the following reasons:
  • This coming school year is going to be INTENSE. Like, hardcore.
  • I'm joining ANOTHER BLOG.
You heard me correctly! I'm going to start co-blogging with the wonderful Beverely at A Reading Daydreamer! Beverley and I have actually been talking about it for the past month, emailing each other back and forth, and we think it'll work out, since she will be busy as well, and was looking for a co-blogger. We figured if we joined forces, we would be able to keep our blog readers happy. :) So please, if you are a loyal follower of mine and would love to see more of my reviews & posts, PLEASE head on over to A Reading Daydreamer and follow via GFC, Linky, Networked blogs, Facebook, or all!

I'm very, very, proud of the posts I have accomplished on The Dancing Reader, and I recently hit 100 GFC followers, and I can't thank you guys enough for staying with me. It would mean so much to me if you guys followed me over to A Reading Daydreamer!

I will not be deleting this blog. It's too much work to go to waste! I will of course leave it up for other readers to read, even if it will no longer be updated. Thank you, guys! I love y'all. <3

Two-Week Hiatus!

Hi everyone.

I'm sure you've all heard it, this time of year is usually when students (like me) are taking exams and are stressing out, as well as pulling out their hair. This is me.

Add on some dance team events. Dance team season has begun, and the first things we do is fundraising, adding a buttload of work ahead of me. Within these first two weeks of June. So, the obvious answer is to leave the blogosphere for these two weeks, and get done what I need to get done.

I hope you all understand, and I will see you all soon!
(Sorry, maybe 1 or 2 posts are scheduled...)

I'm BAACK!

Did you miss me?

I hope you did, because I missed my followers, dearly. Although I WAS on Twitter like 24/7 for the past month.

I've come to notice that ever since dance team ended, I've been really bored. So what's better than to continue blogging? Yeah, NOTHING. Well, I really did enjoy guest-reviewing on Words Like Silver. Thank you so, so much Grace! Gotta love that girl, she's amazing. On her blog, I reviewed:

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

Kiss the Morning Star by Elissa Janine Hoole

Go check it out! :)
So here I am! Back with more reviews and such for you all to enjoy. I'm glad to be back!

Say Goodbye to the Dancing Reader!

I know, I know. CALM DOWN.

Lately I have just been SO overwhelmed with school, dance, and LIFE. It's been getting really frustrating. Like really frustrating.

My problem is, I'm terrible at balancing out my time. I usually spend waaay too much time blogging+twittering, and not enough time finishing my homework. Which makes me stay up late at night to finish it. Which makes me not get enough sleep. Which causes me to later on get sick from lack of sleep and a weak immune system. It ties in together to form a bad situation. And dance team is a whole 'nother matter. It's so time consuming, it's unbelievable. I just can't do it anymore.

Plus, I'm very inconsistent with my reviews. I definitely don't have much time to read in a week, and I'm not a fast reader at all. So that doesn't help. And it takes time to write a helpful review.

So my conclusion is this: stop blogging. Freshman year was supposed to be easy and fun, but it turned out for me to be much too stressful. I loved blogging while it lasts, but I just can't keep up.

I'll still be around Twitter, and Goodreads, but I just won't be posting on the blog anymore. I can't keep being inconsistent with posting something everyday. But yeah, that's it for The Dancing Reader. I hope I can still make new blogging friends on Twitter & Goodreads though. I love you guys!

**All previous review copies I requested will still be read. I will most likely have a mini-review on Goodreads**

I will not delete this blog. I will keep it up for y'all to enjoy what I have accomplished.

I'LL MISS BLOGGING!

Thanks for understanding, everyone. :)

Re-reading Books

I came across Rachel @ Fiktshun 's blog post about Re-reading and re-rating. It really had me thinking, that I DO have a lot of books that I actually really need to re-read. Some I just plain love, and need to experience it again. Others I remember I loved, but have no recollection of what happened in the book. That's pretty much my biggest problem right now.

So many sophomore novels are coming out this year in 2012. I read a lot of the first books in 2011, but come to think of it, I don't remember more than half of the character's names. So here are just some books that I want to re-read.

Angel Burn by L.A. Weatherly

I read this back in the summer of 2011, and I absolutely ADORED IT. One of the best angel books I have ever read. The second book, Angel Fire, is now out, and I really want to get my hands on them. Buuuuuut I can't. Because all I really remember is that Willow and Alex are in love and there are bad angels in the book. Pretty sad, I know, I have terrible memory. So I may just have to pick this back up very soon.

Man, I read this one waaay back when it first was released. I remember that I loved how it was action packed. And it was a SCI-FI. That I actually really enjoyed. And mystery. The blend was perfect. A Million Suns is now out, and I also have a very strong urge to grab it, but I don't really remember the character's names, or what happened in the end. I need to pick this one up in the very near future. (No pun intended)

Unearthly by Cynthia Hand
I read this one also in the summer of 2011, and this angel book is also one of my favorites. Very different from other stories. And TUCKER! I remember that I was team Tucker. For some reason, this one is fresher in my head, but I still want to read it again before reading Hallowed, which is also already out. It's still a little foggy.

Oh my. I'm so disappointed in myself. I read this one in 6th or 7th grade, I can't remember. THAT WAS A LONG TIME AGO. I'm in 9th grade now, and I remember that this wasn't all that amazing. But I was in 6/7th grade, I probably didn't understand the amazing and  holiness of it. I feel so bad. I actually have to read this. I never continued the series, either. And I CLEARLY need to.

Hmmm, I think I read this one in Feb/March/April of 2011. I kind of skimmed through it, since I hadn't even read the entire Mortal Instruments series. I did like what I read, though. Gah, writing this post makes me ashamed of myself...

I can honestly say that I don't remember when I read this. I feel like it was maybe at the end of 2010 or early 2011. I read it before it became really popular. I loved it, but it didn't "change me" like it did to a lot of people. So I feel like I need to pick it back up and see if it makes a difference.

Now for 2 books that are just my absolute FAVORITES that I feel like reading again.

Sigh. I read Lola and the Boy Next Door not too long ago, and it really made me realize how much I missed Anna. I read this one in the summer of 2011, and I really, truly miss it. I need to buy this book.

SO. AMAZING. This is my most favorite dystopian.. ever. Insurgent is coming out soon! (ish) And I WILL read it again before it's release date. I keep telling myself to not read The Hunger Games because I want to like Divergent more. :) I have so much love for this one.

So that's it, guys! I have A LOT of books to reread... such LESS time for so
MANY books. D: Do you guys have books you want/need to re-read? If so, what?

I Apologize!

Hi everyone! So, as you can see, this is an apologetic post. About WHAT? you ask. Well.

This problem has already been mentioned in a post from the past (January) and that is my lack of reviews. I'm  human. I have things to do and places to go. I wish with all my life that I could just sit down and read for a year without any disruptions or distractions. I really do.

But I can't do that.

That's unrealistic.

Dance team and school is literally taking over my life. My basic schedule is this: Eat. School. Dance. Homework.  And if I have time, read/blog. And if I have even MORE time, sleep. Yep, sleep is at the bottom of my list now. You can say I'm a little sleep deprived.

I really do apologize for my boring, lacking blog. It's so bad, because, I just started out. I really don't want to let anyone down, but I'm afraid I have. But I will not give up. I've stopped blogging once, and I will not do it again. I will try and stay persistent, because I love book blogging.

I'm a slow reader as well, so it doesn't exactly help. I try to find time to read whenever I can. These days it's riding the bus to and from school (eBook) and then a physical book at home (usually late at night when I'm done with homework).

So I guess what I'm saying is, bear with me. STAY with me. I'm sorry, again. There will be weeks where there's literally no new posts... and weeks where there will be a couple of reviews. Totally bad scheduling, but that's all I'm capable of right now. I would love to hear suggestions from everyone! It would help me tons.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and most of all, thank you to my followers. And staying with me! I hope this busy-ness slows down very soon.

With lots of love (and hope!),
The Dancing Reader

Quick Update: Finals, Monthly Book Themes, and the Extras

Hi everyone! So as you can see, this is just an update post. First, I'd like to talk about finals.Y'all who have been through highschool know what I'm talking about. IT IS EXTREMELY STRESSFUL. I'm a freshman who is taking some sophomore classes, so it's a little-extra harder for me. At my school, we get out 2 hours earlier, but I honestly have no idea if I will get any reading done with so much studying to do. After that, I have a 3 day weekend with NO homework! That equals reading time. =)

The next thing: Monthly Book Themes. If you HAVEN'T checked out my post for it, read it here! It's quite a big change for me. But the Extras. What are the EXTRAS you are talking about, may I ask? I'm sure many of you have the same problem: when you walk into a bookstore, you can't exactly walk out empty-handed. For me, since I only borrow books, I can't exactly walk out of the library empty-handed, especially when there's that New Books display shelf. Those "extras" will be books that are not part of the themed-month. They will kind of be--books between the months. I will only read these "extras" once I finish the books I chose for the themed-month.

So that's basically it! I'm currently reading Gone by Michael Grant, and Notes to Self by Avery Sawyer. I'm loving both, and I plan on finishing both before January ends! That's it for now, happy reading!

Change of Plans: Monthly Themes

Hi everyone! This title of the post.. what is it about? I'm going to jump right in and tell you guys.
You know when there's THAT BOOK that everyone is talking about, that book you MUST read before you die? But for some odd reason, you just can't get around to it? Well, yes. I have decided to shift on over to Monthly Themes, so it will help me read books out of my comfort zone. This will change my REVIEW POLICY, and how I choose books to read. This was inspired by Priscilla from The Readables (Youtube, Tumblr). I will be doing most of the same things that she does on her channel.
If y'all watch Priscilla's videos, you can skip this paragraph. If you don't, I'm going to explain what I'm talking about right now. Basically, every month, I'm going to pick a theme for the month, and the books I decide to read will be in that specific genre/theme. I'm planning to read 3-5 books a month (my goal is to read 1 book every week, 1 book every 2 weeks on busy ones). This way, it's more organized. I will also force myself to read books that are out of my comfort zone. I will still review the book as soon as I finish it.
I think that this is a good plan for me, because I tend to always stick with one genre: Paranormal Romance. I need to expand, people! If anyone has any theme suggestions, just comment below or tweet me or email me or message me--whatever you want to do. I'm open to any suggestions! Ha, keep in mind, only fiction though. x) Check out my updated Review Policy please! Doing monthly themes will also mean that I will stop doing Waiting On Wednesdays (it just doesn't make sense to wish for something when you're on a schedule), and In My Mailboxes. I will most likely do a Book Haul at the beginning of each month now. There will also be an "In Conclusion" post as well, summarizing my month.
This change (Monthly theme, In My Mailbox, and Wow) will happen in February--just because it's the middle of January right now, and that wouldn't work out. But I'm extremely excited! Alright, well, that's it for now! Bye everyone!

Mini Hiatus (On and Off)

Hi everyone! This is just a quick (maybe?) post about my mini break that I'm taking. As most of you know, I'm a freshman in high school, and I'm on my school's dance team. Well, it just so happens that we are heading into State season, which means that I'll be more busy, with 2 hours of practice nearly every day. Add that into my daily schedule PLUS 2 hours for homework, and I hardly have any more time to read. I know, it makes me sad, too.
So basically my point here is that I won't have many reviews going up. I'll still have Waiting on Wednesdays and In My Mailboxes (since those are easy to post about), but finishing a book and writing it's review won't be so easy. We're looking at maybe 1 review every 1-2 weeks. I feel terrible since I just started out this blog, but that's truly how busy I will be. Plus, I'm not a very fast reader. Please note that I might have some weeks that are easy and relaxing, so I might be able to fit in some more reviews.
I hope you all can bear with me until around March, hopefully things will cool down by then. Thanks to everyone who's been with me so far! I love you guys. (:

Best 10 Books Read in 2011

Wow, 2011 whipped past me before I could say "happynewyear". Can you agree with that?! Although I just started this blog, I think that it is still appropriate for me to do my favorites of this year. In the year of 2011, I read 73 books, which was MUCH less than I anticipated, sadly. My goal was 100 books.. better luck next time! These books were not all published in 2011, and are in no specific order.

My Top 10 favorite books I read in 2011 (Click on the title to link to Goodreads):

1. Beastly by Alex Flinn (Read this book countless amount of times. Plus, the movie is phenomal. Just saying.)

2. Hush, Hush

3. Crescendo

4. Silence

by Becca Fitzpatrick (I seriously loved ALL 3 books. They are the best. Ever.)

5. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins (I'm sure this was MANY people's favorites. I still need to read Lola..)

6. Unearthly by Cynthia Hand (C'mon. EVERYBODY loves Clara and Tucker!)

7. Wither by Lauren DeStefano (Ugh, so disgustingly creative and I LOVED.)

8. Divergent by Veronica Roth (Probably my most loved book of all time. Seriously, Four & Tris <3)

9. Angel Burn by L.A. Weatherly (Oh my goodness, one of the best angel books I have ever read!)

10. Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater (Guys, this book made me CRY. See my review here)

Yep, those are my Top Ten Favorites of 2011. What are your

With best of luck, I also hope everyone got what they wished for. Merry Christmas, once again! I'm looking forward to a fantastic year of 2012 with you guys! (:

Hi Everyone :)

Hi everyone! This is The Dancing Reader speaking. As you can tell from my blog name, I'm an obsessive reader, and dancer. This blog is going to be about books, however, since it's a little difficult to talk about dance daily. Some things you should know about me: I'm a girl, and a teen. Who loves to dance and read. But you knew that. My favorite genres of dance are ballet and contemporary. My favorite genres of reading are only YA novels: Paranormal romance, Dystopian, and Contemporary. I used to have a book blog, so it's like meeting an old friend again.

On this blog, you'll be finding reviews and weekly memes (IMM, Waiting on Wednesday, and possibly more!) I'm very excited to start again, and I hope you enjoy your time here at the Dancing Reader.

Happy reading!
